Bikaner, a desert town is in the north of Rajasthan, The city was founded by Rao Bika Ji, son of Rao Jodhaji of Jodhpur in 1486. He had chosen a barren wilderness called ’Bangladesh’ and transformed it into a charming city called ’Bikaner’, after the founder’s name. Ever since the foundation of Bikaner until its accession into Indian union, Bikaner has always played an important role in the history of the country. The old city is encircled by a 7 km long city wall with five entrances gates.
